An early settling family of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico is that of Baltazar de Sosa and Maria Ines Rodriguez. This couple lived from the early 1500's to the late 1500's.
I have yet to discover whom the parents of Baltazar de Sosa were but those of his wife, Maria Ines Rodriguez, are Diego de Montemayor and Ines Rodriguez. Here I have only posted information about their children and whom they married to. For additional descendants look for them in our Community Family Tree.

See Geni.com . research by Ana M. Guerra, May 2018 about the parents of Baltasar Castano de Sosa. I am not sure how accurate the information is but I am starting to check into it to verify. It says that the parents are: Francisco Mendez and Ines Castanho Dias, from there it goes back a few more generations. I connect through to most of Baltazar Castano Sosa and Ines Rodriguez children through many lines. So.. it is worth checking!

If I am not mistaken Blatzar de Sosa was from Portugal as for my grandmother where she was born I don’t know yet …
I WAS WITH IDEA THAT BALTAZAR DE SOSA WAS OF PORTUGUESE DESCENT. BEING THAT I AM A DESCENDANT OF HIS, I AM VERY INTERESTED IN HIS HISTORY AND ORIGINS.
I think that he was. Since one of the early Sosa’s in Mexico, Lope de Sosa, was Portuguese.
Does your source #13 above (Maria Elena Santoscoy Flores, Aquellos Primeros Saltillenses) make any reference to identifying the brothers of Capitan Baltazar de Sosa? I have notes indicating that in the July 2009 publication of Genealogica Mexicana, there is confirmation thru an article by Ms. Santoscoy that Baltazar and Gaspar de Sosa were brothers. Gaspar Castaño de Sosa, of course, is a more well-known historical figure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaspar_Casta%C3%B1o_de_Sosa

It does not mention the brothers. It has always been presumed that they are brothers but I have not seen any document proving this. There are trees out there that mention that they are but again they are unsourced.
